John J. Shaw

Biography

John J. Shaw joined Myers Law in 2011 and concentrates his practice in the areas of civil appellate law, civil litigation, property tax litigation, and business litigation. 

John was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  In 2007, John graduated from the University of Oklahoma with BA in Journalism.  While attending OU, John was an active member of the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity, serving as a Pledge Educator and Disciplinary Board Advisor.   Following his time at OU, John returned to his hometown of Fort Worth to pursue his law degree at the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, graduating in 2011.

While attending Texas Wesleyan, John served as a Notes & Comments Editor on the Board of Editors for the Texas Wesleyan Law Review.  While serving on the Law Review Board, John's article Exoneration and the Road to Compensation: The Time Cole Act and Comprehensive Compensation for Persons Wrongfully Imprisoned was published in the Law Review.   Additionally, John served as the Non-DNA Case Coordinator on the board of the Wesleyan Innocence Project, a student-run organization dedicated to assisting individuals prove factual innocence of crimes for which they have been convicted.  He was also member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.  Upon graduating, John was one of five Wesleyan students inducted in the National Order of Scribes for outstanding legal writing while in law school.

John is currently a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and Young Lawyers Association.
