Biography

For almost thirty years, Robert John ("Rob") Myers has been helping clients in courtrooms all over Texas.  The son of an attorney, Rob was raised in Jacksboro, Texas. Rob was graduated from Texas Tech University in 1980.  While in Raiderland, he served in the Student Senate and received the coveted "Will Rogers Award" from the President for outstanding service to the Student Body.  He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and worked in a number of business endeavors while attending Tech.  After graduation, Rob was accepted to study law at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, graduating in 1983.  He was the American Bar Association; Law Student Division representative from St. Mary's in 1982-3; was active with the Board of Advocates and was on the National Semi-Final team in the ABA Mock Trial competition in 1982-3.  He was awarded the "Order of Barristers"; the "Lewis Powell Award" and was a member of Phi Delta Phi, honorary legal scholastic fraternity.  During law school, he discovered his love for trial work, working for a locally prominent "family law" firm, actually trying cases under attorney supervision during his final law school year.  After graduation, Rob quickly became a regular at the Bexar County Courthouse and soon branched out beyond family litigation to general civil practice, including, beginning in 1984, property tax work for major property owners.  Continuing to concentrate in trial practice, Rob undertook his first legal malpractice case against a major law firm in 1993.  In 1995, Rob formed the law firm which today bears his name.  Rob has tried dozens of jury trials; has handled hundreds of cases for large and small clients in every part of the state and has numerous reported cases in the Texas law books.  Cases that he has handled thus far during his career have resulted in settlements and/or jury verdicts in excess of $50 million for his clients.

Rob is the author of a law journal article on Texas property taxation.  He is a co-founder of the "Annual Legal Seminar on Property Taxation" sponsored by Texas A&M University, which is now in its 27th year.  The Seminar is widely recognized as the premier annual gathering of property tax professionals in the State.  Rob is a frequent lecturer to attorney groups on property tax and legal ethics and malpractice matters.
